About the client
The new and modern Youth Day Care Centre „Harmonijos miestas“ for children with disabilities and their families will be built at the intersection of Aguonų St. and A. Baranausko St. in Panevėžys. It will consist of 3 bulidling complexes – a day care centre, an education and counselling centre and a centre for temporary respite and coherent education.
INFES work
The spaces planned for the new full-service centre include a lounge with reception and a café, a canteen area, a cloakroom, a conference room, and the necessary technical and sanitary facilities. Accommodation, specialist offices, and a staff kitchenette are also part of the design. The sanitary facilities and entrances to the building, without stairs or drops in height, will be adapted for people with disabilities.
Significance of the project
The project will significantly contribute to improving the accessibility of comprehensive and personalised services for children with disabilities and their families. Parents of children with disabilities will have the opportunity to return to the labour market by benefiting from a package of services such as social care, therapeutic activities, temporary respite and psychological support, and learning opportunities. It is estimated that 25 skilled jobs will be created and up to 70 people will be served.
Results
After completing the project, the new youth day care centre will provide integrated service spaces that will ensure the comfort of staff and visitors. Particular attention is paid to people with disabilities, and many of the solutions – from handrails and thresholds to sockets at lower height – have been designed to ensure that all the visitors feel as comfortable as possible in their surroundings.
