About the client
The Nalšia Museum was founded in 1945 in Švenčionys, but only acquired the name Nalšia in 1992. In 1955, the regional museum was given new larger premises at Adutiškio St. 2, where it has been operating ever since. The museum has 3 departments: archeology, nature and ethnography, and history. It contains more than 62 000 exhibits.
The museum building is a two-storey protected object of cultural heritage with a total area of 234.75 m².
INFES work
The Nalšia Museum building is undergoing major renovation. The aim is to rebuild the load-bearing structures of the building without altering its external dimensions – length, width, and height. Due to the uniqueness of the project, detailed planning and consideration of details of historical importance are required.
Significance of the project
Museums are sources of information, preserving history and giving people the opportunity to see and understand the past more closely. They are also the venue for events and community gatherings. The importance of the project is emphasized by the fact that the museum is located in a cultural heritage building, so its renovation is also significant at the cultural value level.
Result
After the implementation of the project, the Švenčionys community will have a renewed, structurally sound, and robust cultural heritage facility. The premises will be more comfortable and safer for museum visitors.
