About the client

The administration of Kupiškis District Municipality is located in north-eastern Lithuania. This administrative-territorial unit consists of 6 elderships, its administrative centre is the town of Kupiškis. Situated on the shores of one of Lithuania’s water reservoirs, Kupiškis always surprises first-time visitors with a wide range of attractions and activities. The town’s convenient geographical location provides excellent conditions for the development of various economic activities and tourism. The impressive landscapes and manor heritage of the Kupiškis district attract travelers to this part of Lithuania.

INFES work

Before the reconstruction, the bus station building and its surroundings looked unattractive, the infrastructure was worn out and underdeveloped, and the quality of the public service for bus passengers was poor. During the implementation of the project, public spaces (pavements, parking areas, shelters) were renovated, including the installation of modern lighting systems and security cameras. The Kupiškis Bus Station building was modernized to accommodate public services, small businesses, and community activities.

Significance of the project

The upgraded infrastructure creates the conditions for better quality public services and contributes to the improvement of the infrastructure of the public spaces and the public transport system of the town of Kupiškis. The modern infrastructure of the station promotes the economic development of the town and attracts investments.

Results

The Kupiškis Bus Station building, completed in 2020, is modern and architecturally sound. The aim was to make the new bus station a calling card of Kupiškis and to represent the town properly. The new bus station building is already home to the Kupiškis District Tourism and Business Information Centre. There are also plans to set up other institutions and non-governmental organizations in the building.
