About the client
AB Lietuvos oro uostai (LTOU) manages three international airports in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga. The airport network is an integral part of the Lithuanian transport and communications system. The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania implemented the rights and duties of the company’s owner for a long time. Since September 2023, the management board has assumed control, while the Government of the Republic of Lithuania retains its oversight role.
INFES work
INFES built concentrate and wastewater collection reservoirs, as well as a technological building on Rodūnios St. 2, Vilnius. Additionally, the company installed engineering and technological networks and revitalized the territory.
Significance of the project
A contemporary aircraft de-icing fluid recycling plant is a large step toward sustainability. Wastewater reservoirs will facilitate the successful accumulation of wastewater produced during the de-icing process, which will later be recycled and used as a raw material in aviation and other areas of industry. Prior to the project, Vilnius Airport lacked facilities for collecting de-icing fluid used on aircraft wings to prevent frost buildup during flight.
Results
Following the completion of all tasks, Vilnius Airport now benefits from the first de-icing fluid recycling plant in the Baltic States. This allows the airport to ensure a higher quality of aircraft maintenance and more advanced aviation security. The project also proves that the Lithuanian aviation sector is successfully moving toward sustainability and the Green Deal.
