About the client

Telecentras (Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre) is a Lithuanian telecommunications company that started its operation in 1926, when Lithuanian radio sounds were transmitted from the Kaunas radio station for the first time ever. The company operates the largest radio and television broadcasting networks in Lithuania.

Vilnius Television Tower owned by Telecentras is the tallest building in Lithuania. The part of the 22-storey tower, opened in 1981, houses a café and can rotate around its axis. The building is included in the Register of Cultural Heritage. Every year it is visited by more than 120 000 people.
The tower and its foundation weigh 25 000 tonnes. The height is 326,5 m and the building site covers an area of 3,355 m². The upper structure weighs approximately 3 500 tonnes.

INFES work

The reconstruction of the Vilnius TV Tower premises is being carried out from top to bottom. The first phase of the project includes the installation of lounges, a lobby, and a meeting room, followed by the reconstruction of the building’s restaurant – replacing windows, refurbishing interiors, and reconstructing the rotating platform to accommodate more visitors.

Results

After the completion of all the works, visitors will be able to enjoy a renewed and more beautiful TV tower, both inside and out. The new interior will be more welcoming and accessible to people with disabilities. Once the renovation work is completed, there will be more activities to choose from when visiting the tower. The number of visitors is expected to almost double after the reconstruction.
