Švenčionys District Municipality, located in eastern Lithuania near the border with Belarus, was established in 1995. Its administrative center is Švenčionys. The territory of the municipality includes 3 towns – Pabradė, Švenčionėliai, and Švenčionys, 3 small towns – Adutiškis, Kaltanėnai, and Labanoras, and 602 villages.

The renovated building of the general education school in Pabradė, the largest town in the district, was built in 1964. In 2008, the school became a gymnasium and was given the name “Žeimenos”, and in 2012, the Magūnai Primary School was annexed to this institution.

INFES work

The renovation of the Žeimenos Gymnasium in Pabradė began in October 2020. The building underwent a complete overhaul of all the interior spaces. The work included redesigning the premises to adapt them to modern requirements and to ensure the comfort of the school’s staff and pupils. The entire facade was also insulated in order to achieve a Class C energy performance. The water supply, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical engineering, electrical communications, security alarm, fire detection and the elevator were also upgraded.

Results

As a result of the works carried out, Pabradė now has a comfortable, modern educational facility that is more functional and comfortable for both staff and pupils. The reconstruction of one of the larger schools in Švenčionys district has contributed to the creation of a pleasant environment necessary for the comprehensive education of children.
