VŠĮ Lazdijai Sports Centre, which belongs to the Lazdijai District Municipality, is an institution for supplementary youth education and adult sports, coordinating physical education and sports activities in the district. It organizes elderships and school games, competitions in individual sports and provides hall and sports equipment rental services. The Centre has been operating since 2000 at Dzūkų g. 1, but it owns more premises in buildings at other addresses. One of them is the sports hall at Lazdijos g. 5.

INFES work

The Lazdijai Sports Centre’s sports hall is undergoing reconstruction works. The walls of the extension are being designed, as well as the entrances, which will become more comfortable and improve the functionality of the building and the use of the space. On the ground floor, a sports hall, a cloakroom, and a spacious lounge are being designed to accommodate the different activities that will take place in the sports centre. The second floor will include stands, a spacious lounge, and a VIP area. All floors will have disabled-friendly sanitary facilities and an elevator.

All the mandatory fit-out works are being carried out, and modern insulation materials are being used to ensure the building’ longevity, greater energy efficiency, and reduced environmental impact. All other external and internal engineering solutions are being implemented to help reduce heating costs and improve air quality.

Results

The reconstruction combines two buildings – the old space of the former police building (5,000 m²) and a new modern sports hall (more than 1,500 m²) – into one. After the completion of the planned works, Lazdijai will have a modern, multifunctional, and environmentally friendly sports centre with a sports hall easily adaptable to different sports with a capacity of about 300 spectators, and other facilities for the administration, athletes and guests.
