Client Vilnius University Hospital

About the client

Vilnius University Hospital is one of the largest comprehensive medical centers in Lithuania, offering high-quality emergency, surgical, therapeutic, and diagnostic services. The establishment continually invests in the modernization of its infrastructure and energy efficiency improvements to meet current medical standards and provide a comfortable environment for patients and staff.

Years of heavy use of the Surgery Wing ultimately led to the need for restoration efforts. As a result, internal spaces required restoration and adaptation to facilitate a more effective organization of tasks, as well as to ensure a smooth patient flow.

Infes work

The Surgery Wing at Šiltnamių Str. 29 is undergoing full reconstruction. Building C of the Hospital complex will be modernized, featuring renovations of interior spaces, insulation and refurbishment of facades, as well as improvements of the surrounding area. A small annex on the technical floor will be designed to house ventilation equipment. Although the volume and the purpose of the building remain the same, the renovation will significantly improve its energy efficiency, acoustic features, and fire safety. The object will achieve Class B energy efficiency once all tasks are completed.

The first floor will feature new administrative and general-purpose spaces, as well as a restored Radiological Intervention Unit. The second floor will accommodate six modern operating rooms with postoperative wards and auxiliary facilities. The surroundings will be improved with new paving, comfortable pedestrian tracks, benches, bicycle racks, and preserved green spaces.  New infrastructure will be installed, including a diesel generator platform and modernized engineering systems, such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electricity, and medical gas networks.

Results

Once the reconstruction is completed, the Surgery Wing will become a modern and comfortable space for patients and staff alike. Consequently, it will allow more surgical procedures to be performed while ensuring the highest quality of services. The project will make a significant contribution to improving healthcare infrastructure in Vilnius and across Lithuania. The Hospital will also be able to offer modern treatment services to patients more efficiently, improve working conditions for medical staff, and ensure compliance with the highest safety and quality standards.
