About the client
The administration of Rokiškis District Municipality is located in north-eastern Lithuania, near the border with Latvia. The municipality comprises 11 elderships and the centre of the municipality – Rokiškis – is sometimes referred to as miniature Lithuania. As the 2019 Capital of Culture of Lithuania, the city is famous for its regional and international events, a rich cultural life, and a deep legacy of patronage. Rokiškis District also attracts travelers with its spectacular landscape and more than three hundred cultural and historical monuments.
INFES work
The total area of the multi-purpose sports hall will be 2456.19 m², with a built-up area of 3079.44 m² and a height of 12.70 m. The sports hall will be adapted for basketball, volleyball, indoor football, and handball training and competitions. The project will include wrestling and fitness rooms, changing rooms and locker rooms. A 500-seat sector with mobile stands will be set up to watch the competitions. After the completion of construction works, the hall will have a maximum capacity of 650 people, 200 athletes, and 18 support staff. The hall will also be connected to the adjacent swimming pool building, making it more convenient for residents to use the swimming pool services.
Significance of the project
The construction of the multi-purpose sports hall will enable the development of a modern active leisure infrastructure in the territory of the Rokiškis District Municipality and provide the residents of the town and the district with favorable conditions for active leisure activities and promotion of healthy lifestyles. The completed building will be used by the municipality’s athletes, coaches, volunteers, participants of sports competitions and recreational events, and pupils attending physical education classes.
Results
The implementation of the project will result in an expanded Rokiškis sports infrastructure and a modern multi-purpose sports hall. The building will contribute to improving the quality of physical education and sports services in the district, and to meeting the needs of sports and active leisure activities.
