Klaipėda City Municipality is continuously investing in the city’s educational infrastructure and expanding the number of available places in areas where demand is highest. One such project is the reconstruction of the “Boružėlė” Branch of the “Traukinukas” Nursery School at 29 Danės St.
The existing nursery building no longer meets the local community’s growing needs. The project therefore involves not only renovating the building, but also more than doubling its size. Once the reconstruction is complete, the nursery will accommodate 10 groups and around 190 children.
Infes work
As part of the reconstruction, the existing 1,068.46 sq m building will be extensively remodeled and expanded to 2,377.21 sq m. New structural elements will be installed, while the façade, roof and windows will be renovated. The building’s engineering systems will also be reconstructed and upgraded.
The group rooms will be arranged across both floors. Each group will have dedicated play, sleeping, changing and hygiene facilities, as well as a separate entrance. The first floor will also include a kitchen, sports and assembly halls, rooms for non-formal education, and offices for public health specialists, while the administration will be located on the second floor. The building will also include a civil protection shelter, which can be used for other nursery activities day-to-day.
The project will upgrade the entire Nursery grounds. The site will feature new children’s playgrounds, pedestrian paths, outdoor terraces, landscaped areas and parking spaces.
Results
After the reconstruction, “Boružėlė” will be more than twice as spacious and able to accommodate around 190 children. Larger, better-planned spaces will make it easier to organize the Nursery’s daily activities, while new sports, educational and outdoor areas will provide more opportunities for children to learn, play and take part in activities.
The renovated building and upgraded grounds will create a modern, comfortable and practical environment designed to meet the everyday needs of children, staff and parents.
