About the client
Druskininkai Municipality Administration is located in southern Lithuania, Alytus District. The municipality also includes Viečiūnai and Leipalingis Subdistricts. The administration manages numerous divisions, such as personal and public health, centralized public procurement, finance and accounting, legal affairs and civil registry, and others. The institution is also responsible for implementing tourism, public order, property management, social support, education, civil safety, mobilization, and other activities.
The club and canteen buildings, formerly a part of the Nemunas Sanatorium Concert Hall located at Maironio St. 7 and T. Koščiuškos St. 4, were structurally unsafe, neglected, unfit for use, and did not meet functional and esthetic standards. Both buildings have been turned into one cultural object — cultural and congress centre — during the reconstruction.
Infes work
Infes is overseeing the completion of the reconstruction project.
The new Cultural and Congress Centre will span 8,330 sq. m. and will feature three auditoriums with a total capacity of 1,839 spectators. The main multifunctional, horseshoe-shaped auditorium will have two balconies, and its first four pit rows can be converted into an additional space for the orchestra. The small multifunctional auditorium will also feature convertible rows allowing the space to be adapted for various events.
The Centre will have a cinema hall with 151 seats and a separate zone for the stage lighting and sound engineers. Two rehearsal rooms will be installed beneath the main auditorium with the option of turning them into additional spaces for events if needed.
Results
Once the construction is complete, the Cultural and Congress Centre will become a major tourist attraction in Druskininkai. It is expected that the new cultural hub will make the resort more appealing not only to wellness and active leisure enthusiasts, but also visitors seeking cultural experiences. The modern and comfortable venue will host international events and prestigious festivals alike. The centre will also invite visitors to enjoy a large variety of events, including drama, symphonic or classical music performances.
